Debbie Jacobs Fearful Dog TrainerWho is Debbie Jacobs, CPDT-KA, RBT?

Debbie Jacobs is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Registered Behavior Technician. She has studied with industry professionals such as Bob Bailey, Jean Donaldson and Dr. Susan Friedman. She uses the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to assess problem behaviors and formulate management and training plans to increase appropriate behaviors and decrease unwanted ones. Debbie has also worked with children with learning challenges including those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Debbie is the author of “A Guide To Living With and Training A Fearful Dog,” and “Does My Dog Need Prozac? Musings and sound advice on living with a shy, anxious, fearful or reactive dog.” She has provided evidence-based information for owners, trainers, and veterinarians since 2007 and this website is recommended as a resource by veterinary behaviorists.

She is recognized internationally for her commitment to helping animals struggling with fear-based behavior challenges, and educating on best practices in training. She avoids doing anything that scares or hurts animals in order to train them. Her specialty includes working with animals requiring rehabilitation due to trauma, and transitioning to new homes and environments.

She grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts and currently lives in southern Vermont with her husband and one small dog.
